What to expect during your massage appointment
Each session is customized according to my clients wants and needs IN THE MOMENT! During the first visit, We will go over a thorough health intake and make sure that you have no health contraindications for massage. Please plan accordingly and arrive a few minutes early. The time of your appointment is the time you need to be on the table! What do you do for work? Are you active? What does your sleeping pattern look like? All of these questions play a role in our day to day pain and discomfort. No session is exactly alike, I really enjoy “focus work” and getting to the root of the problem. I also know having a nice, relaxing, and “pampering” massage is good for our mental health every once and a while. I will assess what style of massage is necessary the day of your appointment. I will discuss with you the difference between deep tissue and Swedish massage.
-
Soothing, gentle and flowing style massage that promotes general relaxation. This type of massage relieves muscle tension and improves circulation.
-
Light to firm pressure to the top layers of muscle, Combined with manipulation of the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. During the session you may experience Myofascial releases, and trigger point therapy. I will also use my elbow and forearms to reach even deeper pressure when necessary. This type of treatment is great for breaking up scar tissue and for anyone looking to relieve chronic pain.
-
Polarity therapy is a holistic “hands on '' form of bodywork which allows you to access greater health, balance, less stress, and MORE JOY! Polarity integrates yoga, nutrition, acupressure, gentle rocking, the use of crystals and stones which facilitates healing. Have you ever experienced a day where everything falls into place? You feel happy, you get along with everyone, you hit all the green lights on the way home from work? Yes? Well, Polarity can allow your life to flow, and that attracts all the good to you!

Reflexology is an alternative practice involving the application of pressure to specific points on the feet .
The underlying theory of foot reflexology is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine concepts of “qi”, a life force energy that runs through our body. If you feel tender or soreness when certain parts of your feet are being massaged, it indicates imbalances and blocked “qi” energies within the corresponding body part.

Cupping therapy: cupping is an alternative treatment that uses suction cups to help relieve muscle tension (you have all seen the famous “I got attacked by an octopus” suction marks). The suction helps improve blood circulation, promotes cell repair, and relieves muscle tension almost immediately. It may even improve your range of motion!
Dry Brushing: Before the use of lubricant, I will “dry brush” areas of the body with a dry, stiff-bristled brush. This will help get rid of dry flaky skin, increase circulation, detoxify and help digestion, may help improve the appearance of cellulite, Stimulate lymphatic system.
** not recommended to use a dry brush everyday, The last thing you want to do is over-brush and negate all the good stuff on your skin!
Gua Sha/Scraping: Used in traditional chinese medicine, the practitioner uses a smooth edge tool and gently scrapes areas of the body that carry tension. This modality may help with improving circulation, improve Range of Motion, break up scar tissue that results from overuse and trauma. Muscle scraping can be slightly uncomfortable, the more the muscle is strained or restricted, the more uncomfortable it may feel.
Massage Gun/Percussion Gun treatment: The use of vibration to warm your muscle tissue, increase circulation and healthy blood flow.
BioFreeze treatment: Menthol Topical (cold therapy) helps to soothe minor aches and discomfort of the muscles or joints. The active ingredient is menthol, which causes your brain to interpret the nerve signals being sent as a sensation of cold, triggering a reduction in your inflammation. This can be used during the session or used at the end of massage for specific treatment. Due to the menthol cooling, DO NOT USE if you have any cuts, scrapes, bruises or skin conditions.
Prior to booking, please note the following protocol:
Always plan to arrive 5-10 mins early for EVERY appointment. The time your massage is scheduled for, is the time your massage STARTS. Arriving early gives us time to do your pre-session intake, gives you enough time to go to the bathroom, get undressed and on the table! I want you to get your FULL session.
Your NEW CLIENT INTAKE FORM needs to be filled out in advance before showing up for your session. You received a confirmation email with a link. Failing to fill this out beforehand will likely mean you will cut into your massage time while you fill this out at our office.
